Styling Tips For Grooms

While brainstorming Styling Tips For Grooms, I ended up researching and coming up with what I think as profound info for the groom to be. Trust me grooms, you need this advice so don’t skimp on it because style for the groom is still important. I don’t know about you, but every time your wife pulls out those wedding pics, years from now…year after year, you’re going to wish you weren’t wearing that ghetto discount shirt, or wing tips with a gaudy bow tie.

I often find it simple to not reinvent the wheel because there have been some pretty dramatic experiences worthy of coining some of these advice tips because they’ve earned it with their blood, sweat and endless wedding day tears. So follow along with this info and let’s see if we can get the groom at least “aware” of what is expected of him on that special day.

So, Think about hair and eye color and the wedding theme when choosing a shade of suit and style. Top hats or any kind of hats for that matter are hardly worn nowadays, only for the most formal of occasions and kind of not as cool as most guys care to understand. Yet oddly enough, Think about a double-breasted waistcoat – they are becoming more popular in the past few years, although I don’t love them.
Remembering to book your suit hire as far in advance as possible, about two months ahead will save you a ton of trouble.

This is your wedding, not your office and you’re not out on the town with the boys just chillin’. This is a day where you need to look your best, if not for this day..when? Think about what kind of wedding you’re having. You’re not going to need to fit items in your pockets and you won’t be wearing your suit in the same way as you do at work or in the office. So be prepared to get a sleeker, lighter and more fitted look and remember, looking clean, and looking good SHOULD feel different so don’t complain.

Be bold, and be different…try something new. There are so many choices of cloth with vibrant or flat colors, textures and even prints. “Far Out” may not suit your plans, but be open minded because it’s okay to be fun too. If you plan to wear the suit again after the event, then lining is a great way to brand your mark. Just don’t get something that stands out far beyond everyone else because that could be embarrassing.

Check out the colors, and be aware of the textures and styles of the wedding to make sure you’re not going to clash and look like a complete moron! (If your wife-to-be is planning a pastel wedding, or white setting, then probably best not to sport bright purple or some exotic blue you thought was pimp!) Just get connected to your wedding and the overall setting so you can look good for your new lady on the day she would most appreciate it.

Shopping wisely, Suit Tailors, Mens Warehouse, etc…that’s not cheap. Nordstrom Rack, Ross, Marshall’s are a really good way of sticking to a tight budget, but you can’t beat a well-tailored suit in your wardrobe; there’s always going to be an occasion to wear it so sometimes you can’t put a price on a great suit guys. It’s a classic that when made well could last you 5 to 10 years. I suppose, just think of it as an investment because that’s what it ends up being.

You might be planning to lose weight but it doesn’t always happen! So don’t order a waistcoat in the prayer that you’re going to be skinnier; be realistic with your measurements and keep your tailor updated if your clothes suddenly start to feel too loose! Allow two to three weeks for your waistcoat to be made and fitted, any less than that and you may be cutting it short to your wedding day. Six buttons are standard on a waistcoat and work with most neckwear/button shirts, but you could have a lower cut at the front, which is more traditional.

Styling Tips For The Groom

The Night Before:

But on a side note, here’s a little piece of advice for the night before your wedding. It might sound like a dumb, obvious thing for a groom to do but setting your alarm the night before your wedding day might be forgotten in the chaos of the wedding-related tension, nerves and excitement.

If you’re not a morning-person (which most guys tend to be), maybe set a couple of alarms – and maybe get your groomsmen to remind you by making you pay the price in the morning if you refuse to wake up… Nothing gets you out of bed quite like your buddies jumping on you and screaming insanely. In addition, the only way for it to stop if for you to actually wake up…it’s a sure thing 🙂
